Throughout life one may acquire a wide arrange of titles and certifications, school, university, languages, skills, driving license, professions… But what does it really mean to have one of those titles? Are they totally necessary? how much do they proof? Are they worth it?
Today in the Better Self Show, we’ll analyze and philosophize about the meaning of having titles and certifications. In the episode you will find an extensive philosophical rant addressing some of the questions, thoughts and implications of having a title in our society.
The need to have a title to proof that you are ‘good’ or that you know a certain skill can be related to what we talk about in the impostor syndrome episode.
If you went to college you may probably feel that the title that you got there doesn’t really proof or makes you an expert in the topic of you study, like what happened to me, studying philosophy doesn’t mean that I am a philosopher or that I’ve read all the authors, and other examples.
The education system and later the work market are all about the titles, but what the importance or the meaning of having one? Does it really proof anything?
And how about learning online? How worth is it? and how to choose the right online course or academy? It all depends on your experience but I do have a good experience in this kind of learning especially because I learned to do the website in a big part thanks to boluda.com, and also other places.
Finally there is the importance of training your mind with education, like a muscle it must work out or it gets stale. Reading books, doing courses and all that for just the purpose of learning is a great thing for the mind independently of the titles and certifications.
But anyways you can hear the episode and tell me what you think, what are your thoughts on the topic or just any feedback as it greatly helps me to know what you think.
